Job Description
Project Manager, Community Safety Education Project (35 Hours per week)
The Project Manager is responsible for the development and management of the Brampton Safe City Partnership’s Community Safety Education Project (CSE Project)
The Project Manager will take direction from the CSE Project Steering Committee, and will be accountable to the Executive Director of the Brampton Safe City Association for meeting the requirements of this job description and the Project Manager’s employment contract.
Provide Leadership in the Development and Implementation of the CSE Project
- Provide leadership to the Project Steering Committee in creating strategies for volunteer management, communications, public education and project evaluation
- Work with the agency members of the Project Steering Committee to develop a 3-year action plan for the CSE Project
- Manage the implementation of the action plan
Develop Effective Volunteer Recruitment and Management Strategies
- Establish an intake and screening process for new volunteers to ensure successful volunteer participation;
- Develop a recruitment strategy based on achieving diverse representation of Brampton’s multicultural community;
- Develop a database to identify volunteers’ skills, training needs, time schedules and other factors to support the success of the CSE Project
- Provide opportunities for Brampton residents from all cultural backgrounds to develop leadership and safety skills through volunteerism;
- Organize training sessions for project volunteers with the agencies that provide the necessary training and certification services;
- Plan and coordinate public education activities and events for the volunteers who have successfully achieved their training certification (i.e. designated as Community Safety Educators)
- Design an evaluation strategy to ensure effective volunteer participation;
- Develop a volunteer recognition strategy to publicly recognize volunteer contributions
Communications and Marketing
- Develop a Communications Plan for the CSE Project to build awareness about volunteer opportunities, and to promote the public education services of the project’s Community Safety Educators;
- Provide leadership in the development of all marketing and promotional materials in support of the CSE Project;
- Provide leadership in promoting the CSE Project, its partners, and project participants with media; and
- Represent the CSE Project and the Safe City Partnership at community events.
Partnership Development
- Provide leadership in the recruitment of new partnerships that are beneficial to the project and community volunteers participating in the project; and
- Coordinate regular meetings of the Project Steering Committee, including arranging meeting times/spaces, agendas, and recording meeting minutes.
Record Keeping and Reporting
- Provide monthly reports to the Safe City Partnership, and make recommendations for enhancements or changes to the project as needed;
- Maintain accurate statistics and participant/member lists for the CSE Project;
- Provide bi-weekly reports on the CSE project to the Executive Director and colleagues at Safe City staff meetings;
- Provide relevant project information, statistics and reports for the CSE project funder(s) as required; and
- Provide necessary administrative reports and paperwork for the CSE project in relation to Association requirements (i.e. petty cash reports, invoices, purchase orders, etc.)
Budget / Resources / Sustainability
- Create annual project budgets for approval by the Project Steering Committee;
- Ensure the project does not exceed annual budget expenditures;
- Provide regular and accurate updates on revenue and expense projections for the CSE project as requested;
- Seek additional financial and in-kind support to enhance the CSE Project as directed by the Project Steering Committee;
- Provide support to the Project Steering Committee in the development of a sustainability strategy to continue the CSE Project beyond its initial 3-year funding period
Project/Evaluation
- Develop an evaluation process and tools to measure the progress and success of the CSE project, as well as the effective involvement of citizen volunteers.
- Prepare an interim and year-end evaluation report as required by the Project Steering Committee, and the Safe City Association Executive Director.
Other
- Set personal performance goals and objectives annually, and review with Executive Director;
- On an annual basis, in consultation with the Executive Director, identify training needs to ensure satisfactory job performance is maintained;
- Willing to work regularly scheduled afternoon/evening shifts and Saturdays to provide optimum support to community volunteers; and
- Have transportation to attend meetings throughout the community (vehicle allowance provided).
