Innovative Web site brings crime prevention to your computer!
www.bramptonsafecity.ca

Brampton, Ontario - Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell, and representatives from the Region of Peel, Peel Regional Police, and the Brampton Safe City Association, were on hand today to launch an innovative new tool in community crime prevention, the Brampton Safe City Web site. The site, located at www.bramptonsafecity.ca offer’s Brampton residents a dynamic new tool in promoting community safety with features such as: a community crime alerts page, which allows residents to share information with their neighbours about criminal incidents in their community; crime prevention tips that help residents to decrease "the opportunities" for crime in Brampton; information on ways that groups, individuals and businesses can take action in keeping their community safe; and a section that recognizes local heroes in community safety, as nominated by community residents.

"Our new web site will play a central role in assisting us with mobilizing the residents of Brampton to take an active role in keeping our city one of Canada’s safest communities. Our goal is to have this site become a dynamic community resource, that will help to educate and facilitate communication between thousands of Brampton residents, who are dedicated to doing at least one thing to keep Brampton a Safe City"
Larry Zacher, Brampton Safe City Board President.

The web site was launched in partnership with the Brampton Public Library, to reinforce the message that free public Internet terminals are available in each of Brampton’s Public libraries. These computer terminals provide community residents with access to a wide-range of Internet resources and information including community safety. Through reinforcing the availability of free Internet access in Brampton’s public libraries, Safe City representatives are confident that all of Brampton’s residents will be able to benefit from the resources available on their new site.
