Mattamy Homes Invests $20,000 in Brampton’s Community Safety Campaign

Brampton, Ontario – Peel Regional Police Chief Noel Catney joined Brampton Safe City Association President Gael Miles, and Vice President of the Mattamy Development Corporation Frank Doracin to unveil a dynamic community safety promotion and public education campaign for the City of Brampton.   The campaign will encourage Brampton residents and businesses to get involved with local crime prevention and safety programs such as Neighbourhood Watch, the Business Crime Prevention Program, the Youth Education and Safety Program and the Crime Prevention Academy.  Mattamy Homes has donated $20,000 to develop marketing, educational materials and community safety workshops as part of the initiative.  Appropriately, the campaign is entitled, “Building a Safe City”, in recognition of Mattamy’s involvement.

Mattamy Homes is Canada’s largest new homebuilder with developments in 51 neighbourhoods throughout the GTA.  Mattamy prides itself in being involved with every facet of the communities they’re involved in.  Their partnership in this campaign is a perfect example of the company’s commitment to “not just build homes, but communities”.

“Peel Police is very pleased to support this initiative, which will encourage Brampton residents and businesses to get involved with crime prevention programs that make Brampton a safer and more vibrant community to live, work and play.” Chief Noel Catney

The Brampton Safe City Association will coordinate the “Building a Safe City Campaign” drawing on community partners and local businesses to assist with publicizing the campaign.  Brampton Safe City is a not-for-profit, volunteer led, community safety organization and one of only a handful of municipally based community safety organizations in Canada.  The organization coordinates crime prevention and safety programs that motivate residents to get involved with keeping Brampton a safe city.  Brampton Safe City is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2002.
