New Executive Director Selected

Brampton , Ontario - The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Larry Zacher as the new Executive Director of the Brampton Safe City Association. Larry replaces Paul Damaso, who left the Association in February to accept a position with the City of Mississauga .
Mr. Zacher, a Brampton resident since 1984, has a long-standing history with the Association. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Brampton Crime Prevention Association from 1989 to 1994, then as a volunteer member of Safe City ’s Board of Directors from 1996-2002.
More recently, Larry has been the Training and Education Manager for the Ontario Elder Abuse Strategy, working with community groups and police services across the province to establish safety programs for seniors.
Brampton Safe City, working in partnership with Peel Police and other Community Partners will be addressing a number of safety priorities in 2005. These include:
- establishing a Road Safety Committee to help Brampton residents reduce dangerous and aggressive driving;
- strengthening the Neighbourhood Watch Program and promoting the annual Neighbours Night Out event;
- recruiting young people, ages 14 – 18, to take part in the Youth Education and Safety Program; and
- training local business firms how to organize workplace safety programs (Safe Communities Incentive Program).
