Seniors' Safety
Resource Materials for seniors
are available in the Safe City office located at 150 Central Park Drive,
Suite 019. This wide-range of information provides tools that allow
seniors to be proactive with ensuring their personal and community
safety. Safe City works with community groups and organizations that
support seniors to ensure that there are adequate resources available
for interested group and individuals who want to make community safety a
priority. To find out more about our resources for seniors, or to pick
up a copy of the S.A.L.T Newsletter (Seniors and Law Enforcement
Together), please contact Beverley Rawn at (905) 793-5484 or by e-mail
at

- Stay safe by being informed about security measures through becoming active in your
local Seniors' Clubs;
- Establish a ' Buddy System' to contact a friend each day to ensure one another's well
being and safety;
- Never put your purse or wallet on a counter while you examine merchandise;
- Use only your first initial in the telephone books and apartment lobby listings;
- Check and verify the identity of all visitors before unlocking your door;
- Give your home the 'lived-in' look with lighting timers;
- Be wary of any 'nice' stranger if the conversation deals with money;
- If you notice a loiterer, play it safe and call the police;
- If you're ever unsure about salespeople, charities or other groups looking for money,
contact the Peel Regional Police at (905) 453-3311.
