Youth Education and Safety Program (YES)

The YES Program is a fun and interactive crime prevention program for high school students to learn safety skills and earn community hours. 

It involves eight fun and interactive workshops that focus on health and safety training, crime prevention, team building and community involvement.

This program is funded by the Region of Peel.

The YES Program Focuses On:

  • Safety and crime prevention training
  • Team building
  • Leadership skill development

Goals of the YES Program

  • Increase the knowledge and skills of youth about crime and injury prevention.
  • Motivate youth to be more active in their community by volunteering in safety initiatives.

Register for the YES Program

Schools and individual students can register for the YES Program.

Students can gain 20+ community hours towards their high school requirement.

Note: Preference is given to students who have done the BRONZE Level and have signed up to participate in the SILVER and/or GOLD Level. (See brochure for explanation of Bronze, Silver and Gold Levels)

Schools: How to Register

Schools can register for the program by contacting the Youth Program Coordinator with the following information:

  • School Year: i.e. Fall 2009, or Spring/Summer 2010
  • Weekday of you choice: i.e. Tuesdays, Fridays
  • Time of the session (1.5 time slot) ie. Tuesdays at 1:15 - 2:30 p.m., or 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • School Schedule (weekly i.e. Tuesdays: Sept 15, 22, 29 etc… or biweekly i.e. Sept.15, 29, Oct 13)
  • Class Description (i.e. Leadership Class, Law Class, Cooperative Education, Mentorship Training, or just open to any student)
  • Class size: minimum 40, maximum 50) ***Some exceptions apply however schools are encouraged to combine classes or open it up to additional students to have 50 students).

School Year Registration

The YES Program is offered during the school year at 14 Brampton high schools. 

Registration can be done by visiting your guidance office, or principal or vice principal who will direct you to the contact teacher at your school.  If you are not able to get assistance, just call us at 905-793-5484 ext.224 or send an email to the Youth Program Coordinator

The deadline to register is dependant on when your school starts the sessions, however, if have missed the first two sessions, you will not be allowed entrance into the program until the next time it is offered.
